Fresh air for the cockpit is supplied through the environmental control system and can operate independently of cabin pressurization. On the ground, ventilation is readily available via the APU or a ground air supply, so the crew can receive fresh air even with the aircraft stationary. In unpressurized flight, the cockpit still needs and receives fresh air through the ventilation system (ram air intake and ducted vents), ensuring breathable air and proper temperature control even though there’s no cabin pressure. Because of this, fresh air ventilation is indeed available during ground operations and unpressurized flight.
